Kitchen Addition - Baldwin Hills
A 217-sf building addition is added to an existing home as a Mid-Century appendage to triple the size of the existing kitchen and laundry room.
North-facing windows are maximized above and below cabinets to bring indirect light into the new vaulted ceiling space. Natural sun angle studies were performed to avoid direct sun exposures and maintain energy code compliance and thermal comfort.
The sloping roof canopy contains openings for shade effect and as a beacon from the street facade view.
